Savory Chicken Crescent Squares
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
2 TBLsp. melted butter
1 TBLsp. chopped onion
2 TBLsp. milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cups cooked chicken
8 oz. (1 regular tube) refrigerated crescent rolls
1/2 cup seasoned croutons, crushed; or seasoned bread crumbs
1 more TBLsp. melted butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In medium bowl blend cream cheese and 2 tablespoons butter until smooth. Add next 5 ingredients; mix well. Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles; press perforations to seal. Spoon 1/2 cup meat mixture into center, pull 4 corners to top and seal. Brush with reserved one tablespoon butter, dip in crouton crumbs. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 20 to 25 minutes. Serve with mushroom sauce.
Mushroom Sauce
Cream of mushroom soup thinned with a little chicken broth or milk and heated slightly.
This recipe will feed two very hungry people. I've often doubled it when my husband and I are having another couple over for supper.
