Buttery Chex Goodies--Big Batch


4 c. regular sugar
1 # butter
1 c. Karo white syrup
1 tsp salt

Bring to a boil--5 minutes in microwave.
Add 2 TBsp Vanilla flavoring.

12 ounce boxes each of Crispix, Corn, and Rice Chex
1 # pecans or walnuts

Divide cereal and nuts into 2 paper grocery bags and pour butter mixture over top. Cook each bag 1 1/2 minutes in microwave--3 times, stirring/shaking between cooking. Spread out, break apart, freeze extra.

Wendy's Little Batch of Buttery Chex Goodies

1/2 stick butter or margarine (1/4 cup)
1 Tbsp white Karo
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts
4 cups Corn Chex or Crispix Cereal.

Melt butter or margarine and Karo over low heat. Add brown sugar and cook 2 minutes after mixture bubbles throughout (from first bubble). Add peanuts and Chex while still on low heat and mix till all cereal is coated. Spread out on a cookie sheet to cool.

  1. A friend at church just told me a great variation: she adds pretzels and m&m's to the Crispix mix. Yum, that sounds great!
