Cherry Swirl Bars


1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening (crisco)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp almond extract
4 eggs
3 cups flour
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1 can cherry pie filling

Cream butter, sugar, shortening, vanilla and almond extract. Add eggs, one at a time. Stir in flour and baking powder. Pour 2/3 of the batter onto a greased 10x15" jellyroll pan. Spread on cherry pie filling. Drop the remaining 1/3 batter by teaspoon over the cherry filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

Frosting
Mix together:
1 tsp melted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
add milk by tsp until frosting is thin enough to pour. Dribble it over the bars while it is warm.
